The expanse of the desert of machines, unfinished construction sites, and the swelling population of cities move us towards the patterns of architected chaos. In these visible and invisible manifestations of the anatomy of structures, the construction of "Ossada," combining photographs, charcoal drawings, and mathematically generated images, presents the accelerated expansion of territories that build the foundations of their own abandonment.

Within the regime of emptiness imposed by the deserted spaces of the ruins, Gui Marcondes confronts the planned abyss of the metropolis, blurring the boundaries of what is rubble and what was manually erected - the perforations in the urban fabric of what was once dreamt of. Walking through the morphological patterns of the cement blocks composed of their crumbling, the memory of human activity remains incubated in the organic and inorganic material that transforms its necropolis; the belief that reshaping the world would lead us to paradise has collapsed.

“Ossada” was also an exhibition occupying a vacant office space in downtown São Paulo, Brazil. The book was launched on the opening day. I created five site-specific works using the existing cubicle subdivisions left by the previous occupants.
